FIVE FAVORITE FALL POLISHES
- Essie's "Recessionista" ($8) I just recently bought this nail polish and am in love with it! This polish is a beautiful burgundy/maroon color. It's super opaque and only requires 1-2 coats… and like most Essie polishes, it lasts up to a week or more! I have absolutely no complaints about this nail polish.
- Revlon's "Mischievous" ($5) This is the perfect purpley taupe for autumn! The application is really smooth, but the polish requires 2-3 coats to be fully opaque. It does, however, last for about a week!
- Sally Hansen Hard as Nails "Lucky Penny" ($3) This color is exactly how it's described… It's a very "copper-like" maroon with gold specks. This polish only requires 1 coat and can last up to a week with a good top coat!
- JINsoon Nail Lacquer "Austere" ($18) I am in love with this color! It's a gorgeous olive or military green, which is really popular right now. I love how smooth this polish is, but it does have a bit of streaking with one coat, so I usually go for two. This polish lasts incredibly long! With a top coat, it lasted me a week and a half.
- Sinful Colors "Rich in Heart" ($1.99) This is such a unique colored polish! It's a maroon polish with a hint of gold and brown. This color looks super flattering on the nails and the application is amazing! It requires only one coat and with top coat, it lasts for about a week.
HOW TO STOP BITING YOUR NAILS
I've had an issue with biting my nails since I was in 3rd grade. Whenever I'm stressed or just bored, I'll go to nibble at my fingers. Because of this, I've never had long (or strong!) nails. I recently have completely stopped biting my nails. I've been "nail biting clean" for a month or two now! It took a while to stop and a bunch of different methods. These are just some tips for anyone struggling with biting their nails:
- Always keep them painted, and never chipped! When your nails are perfectly painted, you don't want to ruin them! I definitely know that when my nails are polished, I don't bite them as much. If my nails are ever chipped, I tend to think "Oh well, they're already ruined. What's the harm, right?" Wrong! Once you start, it's hard to stop.
- Keep a nail file with you at all times. Having a broken nail can be really annoying! I usually try and "fix" the nail by biting it. The only problem with this is that once you've bitten one nail, you're going to want to bite the rest! By simply having a nail file with you, you can completely prevent any of this from happening! After you've broken a nail, try and file it as soon as possible!
- I mainly bite my nails when I'm stressed, especially during midterms and finals. I've finally found a way around this: fake nails! These literally make it impossible to bite your nails! Plus, you can buy them at the drugstore for really inexpensive prices. If you are taking a test or doing something athletic, I would suggest using nail stickers or "dresses" because it can be difficult to work with fake nails.
- Make other nervous habits! Not all habits are harmful. I started playing with my ring and this "replaced" my nail biting habit. The best part is it's super easy to get rid of these kind of habits… just remove the ring!
- Reward yourself after a few weeks without biting your nails! I made a deal with myself that I wasn't allowed to get a manicure until I hadn't bitten my nails for a month. I really love getting manicures, so I tried really hard to stop for a month. After a month, I'd nearly broken my habit.

MY FAVORITE SPRING NAIL POLISHES
Revlon's "Blue Lagoon" This color is a beautiful pastel blue. It's great quality and only requires two coats! For me, it lasted one week. I love this color! ($8 at most drugstores, BUT I got it for only $2.49 at Kmart)
Essie's "We're In It Together" This is one of the prettiest light pinks I've ever seen. It has just a hint of shimmer too, which I love! The only problem is that it requires 3-4 coats and takes a little while to dry. It lasted for a week and a half for me, so the long process is worth it! ($8 at most drugstores as well)
Sally Hansen's "Purple Power" This is a very shimmery light lavender, it almost looks white. It requires only 1-2 coats which is great and lasts A REALLY LONG TIME. ($3)
Revlon's "Charismatic" I love this beautiful coral nail polish. It requires about 2 coats and lasts me a week. It's the perfect color for Spring and Summer! ($8)
Sinful Colors "Mint Apple" This is a lovely light turquoise, perfect for Spring! It requires 3 coats and lasts for a week or so. ($2)
