My haircare routine 2014
A lot of things have changed since my last haircare routine (which I accidentally deleted)... I've discovered new products and rediscovered some of my old favorites! I hope this is especially helpful to all the girls with long, hard to manage hair :)
Step #1: Shampoo. I've recently re-fallen in love with the Herbal Essences Long Term Relationship Shampoo! It strengthens my hair, smells INCREDIBLE, and makes my hair super soft (which I love). I just apply this to all of my hair and start massaging it in at the roots and working downward to the tips. Then, I just rinse it out with some warm water and I'm good to go!
Step #2: Conditioner. Like the shampoo, the Herbal Essences Long Term Relationship Conditioner is amazing for long hair! I love how this leaves my hair soft and tangle-free. I apply this in a unique way... I put a quarter size amount onto my Wet Brush and brush the conditioner through my hair. I would suggest to only apply this to the ends if you have oily roots. I then just rinse it out with some warm water!
Step #3: Detangle and Moisturize. I don't use this after every shower, but I love to use a leave in conditioner if my hair is particularly hard to manage or tangled. I use the Suave Keratin Infusion Heat Defense Leave-In Conditioner on my damp hair, which smells amazing and adds a bit of shine to my hair! Plus, it tames down any flyaways.
Step #4: Maintain. I wash my hair every other day so that I do not deprive it of its natural oils. But, this does have some negatives as well. For example, my hair can become overly shiny on the second day! I love dry shampoos, but they're really hard to disguise on brunette hair (like mine). My favorite thing to use is just a plain old baby powder... This helps absorb excess oils, without adding too much white/gray to my hair. I just put some baby powder onto my hands, run them through my hair, and brush it out... It's simple!

Haircare awards 2013
I realize I haven't done many haircare posts mainly because I don't do much with my hair. I have naturally straight hair and usually just braid it or leave it down. I think it is definitely time to share some of my favorite products with you guys! Enjoy :)
Best Conditioner: Dove Damage Therapy Intensive Care Conditioner: This is probably the best conditioner I have ever tried because it makes my hair super soft and adds a ton of moisture. I've been using this for a few months now and have definitely noticed a transformation in my hair. It appears much healthier and easier to handle. Another great thing about this conditioner is that it doesn't add any excess oil to your hair!
Best Shampoo: Herbal Essences Long Term Relationship: I love this shampoo! It's great for long hair like mine (which almost touches my hips!) because it weighs down any frizz, without weighing down your hair. It also smells incredible and leaves my hair smelling great for days! I especially love how clean this makes my hair look and feel.
Best Brush: I know I talk about this all the time, but The Wet Brush is most definitely a lifesaver! It makes brushing tangled hair so simple, especially when it's wet. Plus, its super thin bristles are so gentle that they don't damage hair that is wet or dry!
Best Detangler: I've recently been loving creating my own D.I.Y detanglers! It's actually really simple: All you do is mix about 1/3 conditioner with 2/3 water and mix it up before every use. I personally like using V0-5 Conditioners for this because they're very watery and don't add too much extra oil because of this!
Best Flat Iron: I rarely ever straighten my hair, but when I do I use Revlon's Perfect Heat Straightener. I can't give an honest review of this because I don't know how well it works on curly hair. I think it's perfect for straight or wavy hair, especially since it's so inexpensive!
Best Heat Protectant: I use the Chi Heat Protectant Spray and it's great! It does a great job of protecting hair and smoothing out frizz. My only complaint about this is that too much can cause some seriously oily hair! Otherwise, it is a must-have!
Best Hairspray: I love Big Sexy Hair's Spray and Play Hairspray because it is capable of keeping anything in place all day. Most hairsprays that do this leave hair feeling super sticky and hardened, yet this doesn't at all.
